Did/Do Dragons exist?What are your opinions?Did they exist? Were they purely someones imagination? Or do you think they live on to this very day..... If they did/do exist, what are/would they have been like? ate? lived? Bred? What was/is their lifestyle? Discuss it here This is one of the first debates, so i will remind you not to come in and start flaming each other. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion |

Maybe they do exist. I beleive they probably did. Here are my reasons - Every culture and civilisation (well, almost) in the world has records of dragons dating back to ancient times. Also there have been reported sightings of sea serpents up till recently (such as loch ness monster). Back in the times when most dragons were reported - these countries had never met. So is it a huge coincidence, that millions of people were suddenly imagining something around the same period of time? I doubt it. People say dragons could not exist for the following reasons: Fire - its impossible for it to actually breath fire Wings - How could it have four limbs? and something that big wouldnt ever manage to fly Size - Something that big wouldnt be too successful, and would die out - especially when the dinosaurs did Here are my solutions - Fire - Some animals have bacteria in their guts, which produces strange chemical gases. Now, quite a lot of these are highly flammable. However, even if dragons did have these gases, they wouldnt be able to ignite it you say? well, some animals (such as birds) eat rocks to help digest their food, and break it up. In rocks a mineral called platinum is sometimes found, which when struck together produces sparks. These sparks could ignite the gases and produce fire. The opposing arguement is that dragons would have to breathe in after blowing out the fire, scorching themselves from the inside out. But reptiles such as crocodiles have little one-way valves in their necks, which make sure they dont drown while using their favourite tactic - they grab some prey in their mouths, then hold it underwater, drowning it. The crocodiles cant breathe underwater, so they breathe in through their noses. However, it is impossible to breathe through your nose only while your mouth is open, so when you do this underwater you still fill your throat with water and have to come up for air. However crocodiles use their valves to stop their mouths breathing in, and they do very well. Dragons and crocodiles could be very closely related, and this would stop the dragons breathing in fire. Also, they could have a thick leathery gut, which would be almost fireproof when wet. This also helps water-dragons or sea serpents breathe underwater. Wings - Some of that flamable gas is several times lighter than air, making the dragon much lighter. You know when you fill a balloon with helium, and it rises? Well, imagine the same kind of thing but with a dragon. The large wings can also help, but they arent as good as bird's wings are. These would have to be absolutely massive to be able to lift the dragon on their own, so they are probably only used as gliders. This means that the dragons relied a lot on the wind for power, and couldnt fly for too long, unless the wind was very strong. Water dragons still kept the wings (but shrunk them), and used them as fins. Size - The dragon probably did die with the dinos - thats the main one. The water one escaped with the crocodiles and the turtles, and then evolved into the air one again. This new dragon is the kind we know most about, and lasted into the medieval times, when it was hunted to extinction. There was also another dragon, which was more like the water one. It had the long thin body and smaller wings of the water one, but moved to land and lived in the forests in asia. This is where the chinease dragon comes from. Unfortunately, i reckon they all died out. Dragons got involved with humans when humans started building towns around the world. They captured some wild animals and kept them in farms. The dragons were used to eating these animals and carried on, which made the humans angry (this is the same thing about foxes, the farmers are killing them for eating their animals, but the foxes dont know this and they are starving). People began to hate dragons, and boycotted them. They drew them as demonic, and evil. Maybe they didnt have bat-like wings, horns and breathed fire. Maybe they knocked over a candle in a farm (OMG it breathes fire), or fell from a cliff (Its flying at us! OMG it will keel us). Maybe these are all exagerations by angry farmers and townspeople, and well - you know how artists like to elaborate things. This is my opinion of dragons, if you want to add to it then feel free. Maybe it was good they were hunted down, if they were alive today then it would be like it the horror movies - or would it? maybe if we let them have a bit of land and left them alone, with plenty of food and shelter we would be fine. Or would it be like it jurassic park? Nobody will ever know... |

Red and Goldie have had a fierce rivalry ever since they met. While they were wild they were always fighting, and when Red got a rider they went out searching and found goldie, who red's rider attempted to capture, but failed. Red also fought me once. Here are some battle pics. When they were just leaving the nest red and goldie first met and starting fighting

Dragon mountain has 3 peaks, each of us get one of them. ^ Those pics are the best ones lol The mountain range is pretty big, so Red lives at the highest one right up in the icy sky, Goldie habits one overlooking the desert, and mine has a sea view. kk goldie, shall do Edit:Done! Lots of the pics are of us on the mountain, and inside the mountain there are caves where we find shelter, and keep our stuff in. |
